6 Weeks before your move date

• Send in Change of address for Magazines, Book or music clubs, Newspapers, etc
• Will you be having a "House Warming Party"? Look at the calendar to choose a date

• Contact bank to change address and Home Branch
• Order new checks, Stationary, etc.
• Identify move date and confirm with Landlords/Super/Building Management/Real
• Estate Broker etc. on both ends of move
• Check with appropriate parties as to who you need to call to get Cable, Heat, Electric, etc. turned on at new location
• Invite guests for "House Warming Party" (4 weeks before Party Date)

• Choose mover and book job (later will usually be OK but 3 weeks is ideal for most moves, a good minimum guideline is at least 1 week per bedroom). Of course, we assume you will be booking the job with us so call 212 223 3555 to schedule your move date
• Advise 212Moving (212 223 3555 of anything that may have an effect on the move such as small elevators, narrow stairs, low ceilings, etc. Ask the new building management if they have any such issues.

• Send in forwarding documents to Post Office
• Confirm move date with building management on both ends of move
• Check to see if there are any special requirements from Landlords or Building Management, such as: Insurance certificates, Masonite, Elevator Reservations, Elevator Scheduling Requirements, etc.
• Inform 212Moving (212 223 3555) of above requirements
• If Self Packing, Begin packing any items that are not needed, (see guidelines for self-packing)
• If our estimator has not seen Move out Location, advise 212 Moving (212 223 3555) of any special items such as oversized Furniture, Artwork, etc.

• If you have discovered ANYTHING that the mover is not aware of during your preparations (such as things that need to be disassembled or detached from the walls,) advise 212Moving (212 223 3555) of this ASAP, so that we are properly prepared with tools and the necessary crew.
• Make arrangements for "House Warming Party". If you need a Caterer, please call. There are several we recommend highly.

• Make sure you are clear on how you will be paying for the move; 212Moving (212 223 3555) will accept Cash or Credit Card. Other arrangements may be made in advance.

The day before your move

• Remember to be prepared to pay for the move. For Tips, cash or check is best. We prefer a single payment made to the Forman. He will distribute it appropriately. Typically, tips are between $5-10 per man per hour. This is entirely at your discretion.
• Make sure you are prepared to eat at your new home on the night you arrive. You may want to call ahead and make arrangements. Most people want to stay in that night rather than go out to eat.
